The Discovery Pavilion features 2,300 square feet of open space and serves as the hub of the zoo’s mission of conservation, education, research, and recreation. Within there is classroom space, an art gallery, animal kitchen, children’s activity zone, volunteer and staff library, lounge, and offices. More than 30 solar tubes allow natural light throughout the building, and a solar panel array on the roof generates electricity for the Zoo. We have also engineered numerous structures for the Zoo including the Elephant Shade Structure, the Channel Island Fox habitat, the Condor Exhibit, the Wave Banquet Facility, the Off-Exhibit Animal Structures and most recently the Giraffe Barn which is to begin construction in 2015.
