Stephen Taylor was born and educated in England, graduating with an honors degree in structural engineering from Leicester University in 1972. Upon graduation he worked as a design engineer for IDC International in Stratford-upon-Avon, England. He then spent three years with Mowlem International in Tanzania working as their site engineer in charge of the construction of a large sugar processing facility and a 5 million gallon reservoir for the capital city of Dar-es-Salaam.

In 1981 Stephen joined the prestigious structural firm, Vincent Kevin Kelly & Associates, focused on the engineering of amusement park rides nationwide. Ultimately, Stephen rose to become Vice President in 1987, and remained in that position until leaving to form Taylor & Syfan Consulting Engineers in January of 1994.

Stephen is a licensed engineer in California, in the United Kingdom, and in all other member countries of the European Union Community. He is a chartered member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

As President and CEO, Stephen managed the engineering and business operations of Taylor & Syfan, as well as training the next generation of leadership prior to his retirement in 2016.

Working together for over 20 years Steve and Rye began the evolution of their partnership into a 100% employee owned company that will always embrace it's Founders' ideals of engineering innovation, client satisfaction and employee satisfaction.
